7 Steps to Contact Tourist Police in China

Your safety is paramount when traveling in China. Here’s how to reach tourist police.

Step 1: Know the Number

The national tourist police number is 110 (same as regular police). For non-emergencies, try 12301 (tourism hotline).

Step 2: Use WeChat

Step 3: Download the App

Download “Police Sun” (警民通) app - available in English and Chinese.

Step 4: Locate Your Police Station

Your hotel concierge can direct you to the nearest tourist police station.

Step 5: What to Say

Know your location (酒店名称/地址), passport number, and describe your emergency clearly.

Step 6: English Support

Major tourist cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Guilin) have English-speaking officers.

Step 7: Keep Documents

Always carry passport copies. Police may ask for identification.
