Beijing Airport Arrival Guide (2026 Updated)

I. Overview of Beijing International Hubs

Beijing is served by two major international airports: Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and the newer Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX). Both are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and offer streamlined entry processes for foreign visitors.

II. Entry & Arrival Process

(1) Immigration & Customs

Follow the “Foreign Nationals” signs upon deplaning.

  1. Health Declaration: Complete via the “China Customs” mini-program or at airport terminals.
  2. Arrival Card: Fill out the blue arrival card (usually provided on the plane or at the immigration hall).
  3. Fingerprint Collection: Use the self-service kiosks before approaching the immigration counter.
  4. Immigration Check: Present your passport, visa (or transit visa exemption proof), and arrival card.

(2) Baggage Claim & Customs

After immigration, proceed to the baggage claim area.

  • Baggage: Check flight number displays for your carousel.
  • Customs: Choose the Green Channel (Nothing to Declare) if you have no restricted items. Keep receipts for duty-free purchases over 5,000 RMB.

IV. On-Arrival Essentials

(1) SIM & Connectivity

Official counters for China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom are located in the arrivals hall.

  • Requirements: Passport registration is mandatory.
  • Tip: Consider an eSIM before arrival if your phone supports it, but a local SIM is better for receiving SMS verification codes for apps like Alipay/WeChat.

(2) Currency & Payment

  • ATM: Multiple international ATMs (Bank of China, ICBC) are available.
  • Digital Pay: Look for the “Digital Payment Service Desk” if you need help linking your international card to Alipay or WeChat Pay.
